Abstract

The amount of image data gathered by camera nodes in WSNs is very large. They need to be compressed before transmission. To satisfy the low-power and high image quality requirements of WSNs

The low-power JPEG2000 realization for DSP-based self-designed camera node is studied.Wavelet transform

quantification and embedded block coding are all improved to optimize its hardware implementation.Experiments results show that the improved JPEG2000 leads to a great reduction in memory requirement and implementation time

and hence saves energy comsuption of camera nodes.
