Abstract

Variation of soil moisture in tea garden directly affect on growth of tea trees and outputs of tea. Using wireless sensor networks（ WSNs） in tea garden on drought monitoring will be easy to maintain and not to be restricted from human resource. Optimizing number of nodes and node distribution

and ensuring good network connectivity

are key points of node deployment. Random deployment and certain deployment of nodes in tea garden are analyzed and compared

and diamond-shaped deployment is chosen to represent certain deployment.Through practical test on packet loss rate

a conclusion can be drawn that the performance of diamond-shaped deployment network is good and it is more suitable for drought monitoring in tea gardens.
