A wireless illuminometer based on wireless sensor networks（ WSNs） is designed and realized.The wireless illuminometer consists of one hand-held terminal and several measurement nodes

the sensor nodes get environmental information and send to handheld terminal wirelessly.The wireless illuminometer can work alone or be connected to host computer to implement efficient

accurate and continuous measurement.Test results show that in condition of indoor lighting

relative error of wireless illuminometer is ± 3.75 %

packet loss ratio of network communication is 18.43 %

and wireless illuminometer can work continuously for about 25 h powered with 1 000 mA·h Li batteries.
