Vibration monitoring of transformer windings status was proposed to achieve transformer windings fault warning and fault location.On the basis of vibration measurement principle analysis

the relationship between windings vibration and suffered electromagnetic force was analyzed.Measurement system was designed to monitor transformer winding vibration according to characteristics of vibration signals.Vibration monitoring experiments were done on an actual transformer

and the experiment results confirm that different failure vibration signals have different characteristics.Thereby the researches lay a good foundation for ultimate achievement of transformer windings fault diagnosis.
