A new type of distributed FBG sensor networks using WDM/TDM technology has been designed. The FBG sensor is employed by Wavelength Division Multiplexing with arrayed waveguide grating(AWG).TDM is employed on each AWG channel. The rich resources of FBG sensor networks in the frequency and time-domain is fully utilized. As many as hundreds of FBG sensors can be used in the networks.A higher accuracy has been realized in the wavelength demodulation centering on Fabry-Perot(F-P)filter and digital signal processors.Multi-reference FBGs on each channel of AWG are set up for real-time calibration of characteristic curve of the transmitting wavelength and control-voltage of the tunable F-P filter. The entire sensor process has achieved automatic control. The sensor networks can be applied in the temperature measuring and warning of the mine and underground tunnel. It has good application prospects in the future.
