A novel piezo-immunoaggregation model for detecting cholera toxin was developed and verified. The network structure
formed by the cholera toxin antibody
directly absorbed by the gold electrode or dispersed in the solution of the detection cell
in the presence of cholera toxin. The density and viscosity of the detection cell is ultimately changed
lead to the frequency change of the oscillating quartz crystal. The experimental result verified that the immunoaggregation method could easily be applied for detecting cholera toxin without too much chemical assembling steps. The developed piezoelectric immunosensor was proved to be capable of quantitatively detecting cholera toxin at the concentration range of 2~4mg/L with a determination limit of 1.65mg/L.
