A query-style routing-oriented node scheduling scheme
GNSS is proposed for wireless sensor networks
based on geographical energy-aware routing GEAR protocol. To solve energy comsumption problem of a large number of idle nodes and redundant nodes in GEAR protocol
nodes are classified by GNSS according to periodic routing information.Different nodes which play different roles carry out different scheduling schemes. The node scheduling GNSS scheme saves energy consumption
while reduces data transmissions and communication overhead of collisions. The simulation results show that
the GNSS scheme can prolong the network lifetime more than 50 %
