An electrolytic micromachining system based on cathode cyclic reciprocal motion is developed. The side-wall insulated cathode is attached on a linear motor which is equipped on the system. The high accelerated motion of linear motor speeds the refreshing of electrolyte and the removal of by-products in the gap.The machining system consists of feeding mechanism on Z axis

programmable DC supply and some accessory devices.Experiments of micro-hole machining reveal that reciprocal motion of cathode can improve machining accuracy significantly.Hence
the feasibility of the machining system is proved.
