In order to investigate the flow field structure in vortex flowmeter
three-dimensional numerical simulation for vortex flow is conducted using the GAMBIT unstructured mesh and the FLUENT RNG k-ε model. The generation and shedding process of a vortex street is depicted
and the analysis of the evolution of the wall pressure with vortex shedding is emphasized. The results show that the wall pressure behind the bluff body fluctuates obviously
and the amplitude of wall pressure is more intensive at the position closer to the bluff body within a certain distance. At the positions symmetric to the pipe axis
the wall pressures are of equal amplitude and of reverse phase. This study provides beneficial reference for the design and performance optimization of vortex flowmeters.
