Inverse magnetostritive effect is an important application characteristic of rare-earth giant magnetostrictive materials.According to the inverse magnetostritive effect of rare-earth giant magnetostrictive materials
a giant magnetostritive force sensor can be made.A finite element model
which is based on the energy functional is presented.Using the proposed model
the relation between the magnetic flux density in the air of the giant magnetostrictive force sensor and the value of force applied on the magnetostrictive rod is calculated. The obtained results are compared with the measured ones to examine the validity of the proposed model.Satisfactory agreements are achieved. This indicates that the proposed finite element model is valid.
