In view of the problem that traditional detection of infectious diseases requires expensive instruments and professional technicians in the laboratory and cannot realize rapid detection in poverty or source limited areas
a low-cost portable device of integrating chip polymerase chain reaction( PCR) amplification and fluorescent detection based on LabVIEW is designed. The hardware of the device is composed of computer
USB camera
microfluidic chip
temperature control unit and fluorescent detection unit. First of all
using the host computer program written in Lab VIEW to control the temperature control unit
the PCR of the microfluidic chip is realized. Then
a fluorescent image is collected at each extended phase of the PCR cycle using camera. Finally
the captured fluorescent images are processed and analyzed
using IMAQ Vision package. Through the analysis on the nucleic acid fragment of the Zika virus in the conserved region
it is proved that the system can meet the requirements of nucleic acid amplification fluorescence detection
and can realize nucleic acid amplification detection in the field and improve the portability of nucleic acid detection.
