A sensor based on fiber-optic mode interferometers to measure curvature and temperature simultaneously is proposed. The fiber-optic mode interferometers are fabricated by splicing the multimode fiber-single mode fiber taper-multimode fiber structure. In order to excite the higher clad modes
the multimode fiber(MMF)is employed as coupler waveguide with a half re-imaging length of 5.5 mm to couple the most of energy to cladding. And the intermediate single mode fiber(SMF)is fused and tapered to further excite the higher order cladding modes and control the propagation loss of clad modes
which can increase the fringe contrast ratio of the mode interferometers and improve the sensitivity.By tracing the variations of th
e dip wavelength and optical intensity
the curvature and temperature can be measured simultaneously with highly sensitivity. The maximum extinction ratio of modal interferences pattern can reach 40 dB.The sensor exhibits a very high intensity sensitivity about 141.63 dB/m

in the curvature sensing experiment and a wavelength sensitivity about 71.43 pm/℃ in the temperature sensing experiment.
