To meet sterilization requirements of medical instruments
a new needle-bacteria liquid experimental device is designed by direct current( DC) discharge. Without an external air flow
driven by a 0
-
20 000 V power
a 12 MΩ ballast resistor and a 1 kΩ test resistor
corona discharge and glow discharge are generated with-5 k V and-9. 6 k V applied voltage respectively at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. The 1 mm needle is connected to negative high voltage and 100μL bacteria liquid is connected to the ground. The experiment shows that the sterilization effect of the glow discharge is better than that of the corona discharge under the same conditions
and E. coli and S. aureus can be killed in about 60 s by glow discharge.
