The frequent occurrence of urban waterlogging disasters has severely affected the regular operation of the urban road network
and the real-time data of the road-water depth is of specific guidance to travel on rainy days. Aiming at the shortcomings in water depth measurement of road
such as measurement data is lack of comprehensive
timeliness is poor
a dual-probes measuring device based on STM32 is designed to measure water depth in urban road network. The device uses the STM32 microcontroller as control core. The two probes
i. e.
a laser probe and an ultrasonic probe
are combined with the device
using the advantage of laser and ultrasound. The laser probe detects the distance from the water bottom to the measuring device by emitting a laser beam. At the same time
the ultrasonic probe detects the distance from the water surface to the measuring device by emitting an ultrasonic wave. The depth of the water is calculated according to the subtraction value of the two measures above.Effectiveness of the device is verified by several experiments in different measuring environments. The experimental results show that the relative error is less than 5 % when the water depth is less than 10 cm
while relative error is less than 15 % when the water depth is less than 20 cm. The device can be carried on floating car and other mobile platforms to quickly obtain waterlogging conditions of urban road
which make the device useful in the further challenge to the flooding disaster.
