To solve the problem of instable compression rate of different samples which caused by the fixed encoding precision
an electrocardio( ECG) signal compression application specific IC( ASIC) circuit with selfadjustable encoding precision based on 5/3 lifting wavelet is proposed. It can self-adjust coding precision dynamically according to the dithering degree of ECG signal
and stabilize the compression rate at a higher level. A reverse scanning mechanism is proposed to avoid the recursive operation of embedded zerotree wavelet( EZW)encoding and it further reduces the complexity of the circuit. The proposed design only has degree of distortion of3. 86 %
while compression rate is 23. 91. In 40 nm CMOS process
the ASIC implement only has 9 885 equivalent gate count
with a power consumption of 7. 11 μW at 1. 1 V voltage.
