Electromagnetic wave propagation characteristics of measurement while drilling（ MWD）electromagnetic wave resistivity logger with tilted coil are simulated via magnetic-current-source dyadic Green’s function for horizontally stratified anisotropic media. The amplitude-attenuation and phase-shift characteristics of tilted coil are analyzed

taking into account both signal strength and sensitivity of directional azimuth signal and selection method of azimuth and tilted angle of coil is presented. The research results is consistent with parameters of two kinds of foreign directional MWD electromagnetic wave resistivity logger and is valuable for the research and development of directional well logging instrument and logging data interpretation in China.
