A polarization navigation sensor of small size and high integration is designed according to Desert ants Cataglyphis navigation mechanism. In order to decrease installation error caused by discrete components
this sensor uses an integrated photodetector to collect light signal. Hardware circuit of this sensor is designed based on MSP430 microcontroller; in order to improve the resolution of the sensor
subsection navigation algorithm is used to calculate navigation angle; real-time information display interface is designed for sensor monitoring. Performance tests on this sensor is carried out indoors
the results show the navigation precision is within ± 0. 1° after experimental datas are processed. The experiment shows that the sensor has high precision and stable property
and it has widespread application prospect in the future.
