After the deployment of wireless sensor networks（ WSNs）

code dissemination protocol is a crucial technology for software updating. Aiming at problem of existing code dissemination protocols transmit redundant code images when disseminate code image to specific target nodes

present a multicast dissemination tree-based code dissemination（ MTCD） protocol for WSNs. MTCD protocol through establishing a dissemination tree routing between base station and target node for reducing the number of involved nodes

as a result

MTCD reduces redundant data transmission and network energy consumption. TOSSIM simulation results show that MTCD outperforms Deluge

compared with standard Deluge protocol for code dissemination in TinyOS

in terms of completion time and data packets transmissions.
