professional therapeutic strategies for hand function impairments demonstrate significant effectiveness in promoting patients’ finger functional recovery. To address the challenges of achieving dual-degree-of-freedom coupled motion and spatial movement for individual fingers in existing index finger rehabilitation exoskeletons
a novel dual-degree-of-freedom finger exoskeleton driven by shape memory alloy (SMA) wires is proposed
and its motion space is systematically analyzed. The exoskeleton can assist patients in performing extension-flexion and abduction-adduction movements of the index finger. The experimental results show that the abduction-adduction range of motion reaches from -19.8° to 18.9°
while the metacarpophalangeal joint (MCP) flexion angle ranges between 9.5° and 28.9°.The maximum flexion angle of the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP) reaches 38.2°.The activity intensity of specific muscles decreases by about 92%.Furthermore
the maximum pressure applied to the hand under exoskeleton assistance is 3.7N
which is within the safety threshold. The exoskeleton offers a reliable and safe solution for hand function rehabilitation.
