The abnormal vibration of downhole drilling tools can affect drilling efficiency and even lead to underground accidents
thus it is necessary to use vibration sensors for real-time monitoring.Traditional downhole vibration sensors require external power sources
which impacts efficiency and increases costs. Therefore
a self-powered vibration sensor based on the principle of triboelectric nanogenerators is researched and fabricated to realize measurement of both longitudinal and transverse vibrations of the drill string.Experimental results indicate that the sensor operates within a temperature range of 0~100℃
with measurement ranges of longitudinal and
transverse vibration frequencies of 1~15Hz
and measurement error does not exceed 4%.The output power of a single sensor can reach up to 12×10
-5
W
capable of instantaneously illuminating 15 LED bulbs. The designed sensor can simultaneously monitor longitudinal and transverse vibrations operating in a self-powered mode
and the parallel connection of multiple sensors can enhance power generation capacity
potentially alleviating downhole power supply stress or replacing batteries for real-time power supply.
