Aiming at the demand for defect detection of titanium alloy tubes in aircraft hydraulic systems
a method for eddy current testing of externally penetrating titanium alloy tube arrays is proposed.Firstly
a three-dimensional simulation model is established to analyze the influence rule of probe excitation frequency and excitation coil width on defect detection signals.Next
the influence rule of the width and depth of cracks of the inner and outer walls of titanium alloy pipes on the detection signal is studied. Finally
the physical probe and defective specimens are made
and the titanium alloy tube external penetration array eddy current experimental system is built.Experimental tests are conducted on the outer wall cracks of different widths and inner wall cracks of different depths of titanium alloy tubes using this system. The experimental results show that the proposed eddy current method can effectively detect crack defects in titanium alloy pipes with a diameter of 14.0mm and a wall thickness of 2.0mm
the length×width×depth of the outer wall crack defect is 6.0mm×0.5mm×0.5mm
while the length×width×depth of the inner wall crack defect is 10mm×0.5mm×0.5mm.The research results of the paper can provide theoretical basis and methodological support for the detection of cracks defects on the inner and outer walls of titanium alloy pipes.
